That alone would send most singers into crocheting or telephone sales. But Stella Parton measures up to Dolly at least as well as Crystal Gayle does to sister Loretta or LaCosta to Tanya Tucker. So even if her own songs are uninspired, she has a controlled voice, which is ungimmicked (except for a touch of the wispy Parton tremolo) and driving.
