Othello, a deceptively difficult strategy game involving black-and-white chips, has gone electronic. The game can act as an arbiter for two humans playing each other, showing their moves on its display screen. Or it can play one side itself, on eight skill levels. It never overlooks a “jumped” piece, as human players do occasionally. It keeps score. And when it wins, it does not make those gloating noises that make you want to kick electronic games right in the batteries ($120).
