Picks and Pans Review: Come and Get It
Logan, 31, is a Los Angeles native who has sung professionally for 13 years but is just debuting on records. If this one makes her a big name, it won’t be by accident. She sounds a little like a cross between Donna Summer and Toni Tennille, delivering a not-too-soulful version of funk rock that avoids the extremes of disco dullness and blues blahs. Her material, much of it by producer Hadley Murrell, arranger Ray Jackson and Dwight Emile, runs from the ballad Don’t Make Me Wait So Long to the Spanish My Love, My Love to the up-tempo M.Y.M.A.N., without Logan’s losing control. Go and get it, indeed.
