Her novels are all big, lumpy, multiplotted messes, but Judith Krantz’s messes, namely Scruples (1978), Princess Daisy (1980) and Mistral’s Daughter (1982), do have a kind of style, and somehow her rich, powerful, scheming women seem less reprehensible most of the time than, say, Harold Robbins’ rich, powerful, scheming men.
