• The 32-year-old Black Eyed Peas leader (real name: William Adams) goes solo with Songs About Girls

ON HIS ALBUM’S TITLE It just happened that every song was about girls: one ex and the current person in my life. She’s cool enough to support me talking about my ex.

ON HIS DREAM GIRL Susan Lucci from All My Children. She’s hot! On “I Got It from My Mama,” that’s the kind of mama I’m talking about.

ON RECORDING SOLO It’s easier, because the only person I have to make happy is me. But it’s also harder, because I have to execute all of the vocals. I’m singing more, and I’m not a master of that.

ON PRODUCING LEGENDS Whitney [Houston] is the funniest person I’ve ever met and sings like a bird still. Mariah [Carey] came in the studio [from an event] in, like, a diamond bedazzled gown. Beyond diva. I felt all underdressed. Working with Michael Jackson feels like going with Neil Armstrong to the moon.

ON FERGIE‘S SOLO SUCCESS I bought her a Porsche to show her how proud I am of her. So when Songs About Girls blows up, somebody better give me a Lamborghini.
