>• On his new solo album, Scream, the former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman, 44, gets funky with producer Timbaland.
ON GROOVING WITH TIMBALAND He’s sort of the hip-hop Prince. He’s always working on music and he’s always looking for something else—like there’s a hole musically that he’s trying to fill. I feel the same way. And we both appreciate a lot of different kinds of music.
ON IF HE’LL BE DANCING TO HIS NEW BEATS You’re definitely not going to see anything that you’d think of as choreography! It goes against what I think performancewise.
ON HIS MUSICAL OFFSPRING My son [Christopher, 3] has a real drum kit. My daughter [Toni, 4] has a Hello Kitty guitar. And my oldest daughter [Lillian, 8] takes piano lessons.
ON A SOUNDGARDEN REUNION I don’t see it happening, but it’s nothing I’m entirely against either. I still love all the people I’ve been in bands with. But there would have to be a creative reason behind it that’s exciting—not a promoter offering a big amount of money.
