This breezy but balanced half-hour special is a useful primer on the controversies surrounding the admission of women to two historically all-male military colleges, The Citadel in South Carolina and Virginia Military Institute (VMI). Reporter Tabitha Soren mostly lets people speak for themselves, and school officials say a lot with their rationalizations about freshman hazing as a rite of passage. Sorry, did we say “hazing”? VMI Superintendent Josiah Bunting tells MTV he prefers to call it “an exuberantly administered regimen.”
