The Family Channel (Sundays, 6 P.M. ET)
Exercise trainer-to-the-stars Jake Steinfeld makes his series debut in a sitcom as a Hollywood stuntman who returns to the Brooklyn foster home where he grew up to ride herd on a bunch of rambunctious kids.
The writing is anemic, especially the physical gags, but the pace is unflagging. The actors are clumsy, particularly Steinfeld, who has the distinction of performing one of the worst Elvis imitations ever—no mean feat. What the show does have is humor that is gentle-spirited. Most sitcoms trade on constant insults, so affability counts for a lot. (Each episode is repeated the following Friday.)
