Consider this showy little thriller about friends who double-cross one another a calling card for tyro director Mike Barker. It will surely bring him offers for future films, but Plans exists more to tell Hollywood, “Hey, I’m here and aren’t I the clever boy?” than to create characters and a story that will stay with you. The attractive young cast give solid performances, but none of the feverish goings-on onscreen mean anything. (R)

Bottom Line: All flash, no substance
