The worst kind of movie star biographies—in ex-mistress Donaldson’s case, a kiss-and-tell-but-don’t-tell-anything-interesting memoir—these books essentially left the great movie idol’s reputation unscathed. Which is more than can be said for the reputations of the books’ authors.
