In the premiere of its second season, American Masters follows Yiddish author Isaac Bashevis (The Magician of Lublin) Singer as he revisits the dying Coney Island cafeterias and now-abandoned homes he knew and wrote about as a young immigrant. Singer at 83 is simply delightful, but the show’s a little disorganized; it could have used a narrator to tell us about Singer’s life so that the great writer wouldn’t have had to do all the work himself.
