This loving tribute to American popular music, first aired as a Bicentennial celebration, is well worth another look. Where else will the viewer find Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Aaron Copland, Woody Guthrie, Louis Armstrong, Charles Ives, the Allman Brothers and Ms. Rubinger’s elementary class from New York’s P.S. 75 all on the same bill?
