It was a year to put one in mind of the old Chinese curse: “May you live in hard times.” The Pueblo crisis, the Tet offensive, the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, the riotous Democratic National Convention in Chicago, the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia and widespread student riots all occurred in this watershed year. Haight-Ashbury, the movie 2001, Joe Namath and the Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour were there too. Care to go round again?
