So where does Hollywood come up with ideas for the movies it makes? More and more, the answer seems to be by simply turning on the TV. Seeking to lap into built-in baby boomer nostalgia, studios are readying big-screen treatments of Mr. Magoo, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Brady Bunch and Dennis the Menace—this in addition to the inevitable sequels to Wayne’s World and The Addams Family. This trend suggests that either television has been better all along than we’ve given it credit for being (a dubious proposition) or else these Hollywood producers need to get out of the house a little more.
