MY STYLE SECRETS
THE ‘EASY’ SINGER SHARES HER FASHION AND BEAUTY MUST-HAVES
My style is …
“Classic Americana because I love to mix denim with everything. Since the day I started, I’ve worn jeans with everything—from a Chanel jacket to an old western shirt.”
Favorite drugstore buy
“I like this makeup base by L’Oréal called Visible Lift Smooth Absolute with the little brush on top. It goes on evenly, stays put and gives good coverage.”
Favorite color for nail polish
“Pink. And I love O.P.I.’s Feelin’ Hot-Hot-Hot!”
Beauty risk she wants to try
“Heavy black eyeliner. It looks so cool on people, but I haven’t been able to pull it off.”
Ultimate beauty product
“I couldn’t live without my Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv cream. I put it on every night and every morning, and it does wonders for my skin.”
Country style icon
“Jessi Colter. She was cool to me, like a country Stevie Nicks. She was sexy with a great voice.”
Biggest fashion splurge
“Golden Goose boots. Only once in a while will I buy a pair.”

Celebrity closet she wants to raid
“Victoria Beckham’s. I’ve worn a couple of dresses [from her fashion line], and they fit great. She has beautiful taste.”
“I don’t wear perfume because I like the way people naturally smell. The only one I’ve ever gravitated to was Orange Blossom by Jo Malone.”
“My arms. A lot of people ask me what I do to my arms, and I just say, ‘I have a 6-year-old, a 3-year-old and a bass guitar!’ I don’t go to the gym—I hate gyms.”

“I have a closet full of RRLs because I love the fit. And I love the J Brand leather jeans when I’m onstage because they feel like second skin.”
“I always wear a lot of mixed bracelets on my left arm, like Buddha beads and leather and pewter bracelets.”
When she feels most beautiful
“When I’m out in nature with my boys—no makeup, just being a mom. Being maternal feels so beautiful.”
CHIC & EASY HAIRSTYLES FOR FALL
Carrie’s hairstylist, Melissa Schleicher, shares her tips for getting the season’s prettiest looks
“I love headbands because if you don’t have time to do your hair, it dresses it up really fast,” says Schleicher of this Carrie look.
TRY IT: Place the headband onto dry hair and roll the bottom of the hair up to create a fake bob. Use the bottom of the headband to hold the hair in place.

A wrapped ponytail—like this one Kacey Musgraves wore to the ACM Awards—is sleek but casual.
TRY IT: Brush hair back into a low pony and secure with a clear elastic band. Take a small section of hair from the ponytail and wrap around the band, securing with a bobby pin. Tame flyaways with a bit of mousse.

The key to recreating Taylor Swift’s elegant style? A bun-making kit.
TRY IT: Gather hair into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic band. Thread the ponytail through the mesh donut in the bun-maker kit and wrap hair around it. Secure with bobby pins and spritz with hair spray. “That helps hair stick to the mesh like Velcro,” says Schleicher.

JULIETTE BARNES (Hayden Panettiere)
“Juliette is flirty, fun and sexy, with a level of sophistication,” DeSanto says. For the singer’s everyday look, DeSanto typically chooses skinny jeans, a pretty shirt and dangly earrings finished with Old Gringo boots. “Hayden wears boots like people wear sneakers, so we put Juliette in a lot of them.”
