Paranoia is the prevailing urban theme these days. And where themes of dread lead, Hollywood is sure to follow. On the interpersonal level, our cinematic cities offer affairs with madwomen (Fatal Attraction) and marriage to madmen (see below). Sociologically, a wrong turn off a highway (Bonfire of the Vanities) could change your life forever. Or, if you’re one who profits from slums, you may be condemned to grovel in decay of your own making (see below also).
