The Rabbit Ears Storybook Classics for Children began in 1985 with Meryl Streep’s bewitching reading of The Velveteen Rabbit. Producer Mark Sottnick has since turned out 15 productions matching top actors’ voices with original scores and art. Jack Nicholson and Bobby McFerrin’s version of The Elephant’s Child and a Robin Williams-Ry Cooder version of Pecos Bill have won Grammies. (Other highlights are the Nicholson-McFerrin How the Camel Got His Hump and Glenn Close’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.)
