As for the 239 people aboard the plane, “we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived,” said the prime minister. DEATH Veteran actor James Rebhorn, who recently played Claire Danes‘s father on the Showtime series Homeland, died at his home in South Orange, N.J., on March 21 from melanoma. He was 65. During his five-decade career, Rebhorn appeared in dozens of hit movies and television shows such as Independence Day, Scent of a Woman and TV’s Law & Order, Seinfeld and White Collar. Rebhorn is survived by his wife, Rebecca Linn, and two daughters, Hannah and Emma. Alexis Shapiro’s Weight-Loss Surgery Doctors perform sleeve gastrectomy to help alleviate a rare condition For more than two years Alexis Shapiro, 12, from Cibolo, Texas, has battled hypothalamic obesity, a rare condition that causes hunger and uncontrollable weight gain. Her doctors advised gastric bypass surgery after her family’s attempts to manage the disorder through diet and exercise were unsuccessful. On March 21 the 208-lb. tween was admitted to a Cincinnati hospital for surgery, but complications arose due to the size of her liver. Instead doctors performed a gastric sleeve operation, reducing her stomach to 25 percent of its original size. “Sleeve gastrectomy is still expected to help Alexis lose weight, which will also reduce liver size,” the hospital reported in a tweet. Alexis is expected to have gastric bypass “at a later date.”
