The Americans’ Keri Russell and her husband, contractor Shane Deary, have split after six years of marriage. “They have been separated since early summer,” Russell’s rep told PEOPLE. “The separation is amicable, and their focus is on their children.” The couple, both 37, have two children, son River, 6, and daughter Willa, almost 2. The two were married in New York on Valentine’s Day in 2007.
On Dec. 9, country superstar Garth Brooks, 51, announced on Good Morning America that he is returning to music full-time and will hit the road in 2014 for a world tour. Brooks said he’s ready to focus on his music again now that his youngest daughter, Allie, is a senior in high school. “We talked about it, all my babies are fine with it,” the singer told GMA host Robin Roberts. The Country Music Hall of Fame member added that he is returning to touring after earning the approval of his wife, Trisha Yearwood. “Miss Yearwood is fine with it,” he said. “Now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music.”
Actor Christian Slater, 44, exchanged vows with business development consultant Brittany Lopez, 26, during an impromptu ceremony on Dec. 2 in Coral Gables, Fla. The couple visited the courthouse to get a marriage license and spontaneously decided to get married. Slater was previously married to producer Ryan Haddon.
Two years after Jennifer Lopez, 44, and Marc Anthony, 45, called it quits, the American Idol judge responded to Anthony’s divorce papers by filing documents on Dec. 2 requesting to change her legal name from Jennifer Muniz – Anthony’s real last name – back to Jennifer Lopez. The couple parted ways in July 2011, and Anthony filed for divorce last year. This is her first legal response in the divorce. She also asked for joint custody of the couple’s twins Max and Emme, 5.
Three-time Oscar nominee Eleanor Parker, who played Christopher Plummer’s love interest Baroness Schraeder in 1965’s The Sound of Music, died Dec. 9 in Palm Springs, Calif., from complications of pneumonia. At the time of her death, Parker, 91, was surrounded by her children.
Paul Walker Honored at Memorial
On Dec. 8 more than 4,500 mourners gathered in Santa Clarita, Calif., to pay tribute to Paul Walker at the site where he and his pal Roger Rodas died in a car crash on Nov. 30 after leaving a charity event. The memorial for the Fast & Furious actor, which allowed fans to leave flowers and signs, featured a car rally that drove past the spot where the Porsche Carrera GT that Walker was in exploded after hitting a light pole. Autopsy results released on Dec. 4 revealed that he died of “traumatic and thermal injuries.”
