Tattoo artist Kat Von D, 28, suffered a devastating loss when her Los Angeles home was destroyed by fire on Nov. 21. Sadly, the reality-TV star’s sphynx cat was trapped inside the house and is presumed to have perished in the blaze. Von D, who was away at the time, tweeted, “R.I.P. my little Valentine, you will be missed” along with a picture of her pet.


The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak, 32, revealed on Nov. 22 that she is expecting a baby with her boyfriend, Kroy Biermann, 25. The reality-TV mom, who has been dating the Atlanta Falcons defensive end since May, has two daughters from a previous relationship.


Musician Billy Joel, 61, is recovering nicely following surgery to have both hips replaced in mid-November on Long Island. The Piano Man’s rep said the operation corrected a congenital condition and added that the Grammy winner is doing “extremely well.”


It’s another boy for Project Runway judge Nina Garcia, 45, and her husband, financier David Conrod, 50, who welcomed a son, Alexander, on Nov. 26 in Manhattan. The new arrival joins big brother Lucas, 3.


Actor Jason London, 38, popped the question to his girlfriend, actress Sofia Karstens, 33, on Nov. 27. The couple, who have been dating for two years, plan to wed next summer in Vermont.


Actress Jennifer Jason Leigh, 48, filed for divorce from her husband, director Noah Baumbach, 41, on Nov. 15 in Los Angeles. The couple, who married five years ago, have an 8-month-old son, Rohmer.


On Nov. 22 a jury in Washington, D.C., convicted Salvadoran immigrant Ingmar Guandique, 29, of first-degree murder in the 2001 killing of Chandra Levy, who had been romantically linked to then-Congressman Gary Condit of California. Guandique is already serving a 10-year sentence for assaults on two other women in the capitol’s Rock Creek Park, where Levy’s remains were discovered in 2002, and could now face life in prison when he is sentenced in February.


Director Irvin Kershner, (The Empire Strikes Back, RoboCop 2), 87, died in Los Angeles on Nov. 27.


The fallout continues from Charlie Sheen’s wild night at the Plaza Hotel, which ended with the Two and a Half Men star taking a trip to the hospital. On Nov. 22 Sheen, 45, sued adult film actress Capri Anderson, 22, his date that October evening, claiming she tried to extort $1 million from him and also stole his $165,000 Patek Philippe watch. According to the suit, Anderson threatened to tell authorities “a sensational tale about being assaulted, battered and held against her will,” even though she had told police at the hotel Sheen was “a total gentleman.” Stay tuned.
