EXPECTING

Baby No. 1 is on the way for Scrubs actress Judy Reyes, 41, who plays head nurse Carla Espinosa Turk on the sitcom, and her boyfriend, director George Valencia. • Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, stars of the TLC reality show 18 Kids and Counting, are becoming grandparents. Joshua, 21, the oldest of their 18 children, is awaiting a child with his wife of nine months, Anna, who is due in October.

UPDATE

Actor Dennis Quaid, 55, and wife Kimberly, 37, have settled with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. over a medical mistake that almost killed their newborn twins in 2007. The hospital has agreed to pay $250,000 each to Thomas and Zoe, now 19 months, for the massive overdose of the blood thinner Heparin they received at 10 days old. The babies, who have recovered, will also receive free care for any issues arising from the mishap. • The accused “Craigslist Killer” Philip Markoff, 23, pleaded not guilty to murder June 22. Prosecutors claim that the former medical student bound, bludgeoned and shot masseuse Julissa Brisman, 25, and left her to die at a Boston hotel April 14. The victim had advertised in the “erotic services” section of the Web site Craigslist. The trial is tentatively scheduled to begin in June 2010.

BIRTHS

It’s a girl for Brothers & Sisters star Rachel Griffiths, 40, and her husband of six years, artist Andrew Taylor, who recently welcomed their third child. The newborn, whose name has not yet been revealed, joins brother Banjo, 5, and sister Adelaide, 4.

Cuban-American priest Father Alberto Cutié, 40, who left the Catholic Church amid controversy over tabloid photos of him kissing his girlfriend, parishioner Ruhama Canellis, 35, on a Miami beach, married her in Coral Gables, Fla., June 16. They met in church in 1999 and began dating two years ago, says Cutié. Dubbed “Father Oprah” for hosting religious Spanish-language TV and radio talk shows, he recently began a yearlong process to become an Episcopal priest, which does not require a vow of celibacy.

RECOVERING

Actress Jane Fonda, 71, underwent surgery to replace her left knee with a titanium rod and ceramic joint in Santa Monica, Calif., June 16. “So long old knee,” the two-time Oscar winner said on her blog just before the procedure, adding, “I just lifted it up and gave it a goodbye kiss.”

DEATH

Artist Patrick Farrow, 66, brother of actress Mia, 64, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in Castleton, Vt., June 15. Police said his wife, Susan, discovered him in his art gallery.

DOUBLE THE JOY Sarah Jessica Parker, 44, and her husband, actor Matthew Broderick, 47, welcomed twin girls, born to surrogate Michelle Ross, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, June 22, according to local reports. A spokeswoman for East Ohio Regional Hospital had no comment but told PEOPLE, “Everything’s good.” The babies join brother James Wilkie Broderick, 6. “I’m thrilled for Sarah, Matthew and James Wilkie,” says Parker’s Sex and the City costar Kim Cattrall. “More fabulous girls are joining our SATC family!”
