Citing insufficient evidence, Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service announced June 1 that Hugh Grant will not be charged for an April 24 confrontation with a paparazzo. The actor, 46, was arrested for allegedly kicking and throwing a tub of beans at Ian Whittaker, a photographer standing outside his London home…. Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore (inset), 37, was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles on June 1. California Highway Patrol officers stopped him around 1 a.m. for exceeding the 65 m.p.h. speed limit near Santa Monica Boulevard. According to police, Moore “displayed signs of alcohol impairment.” The actor was booked and released a few hours later on $5,000 bail. His rep had no comment…. Photographer Larry Birkhead, father of the late Anna Nicole Smith‘s 9-month-old daughter Dannielynn, may soon be back in court with his former attorney Debra Opri—this time on opposite sides. In a suit filed May 29 in Los Angeles, Opri seeks an unspecified amount for legal fees she alleges Birkhead, 34, failed to pay her for representing him in the recent paternity case. (DNA tests revealed in April that Birkhead was Dannielynn’s father.) Birkhead filed a separate suit on June 1, claiming that Opri defrauded him out of at least $865,000…. Dr. Jack Kevorkian, 79, was released on June 1 from Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater, Mich., after serving eight years of his 10- to 25-year sentence for a 1998 assisted suicide. Dubbed “Dr. Death” for some 130 acts of euthanasia, he was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999 for the lethal injection of Thomas Youk, 52. Upon his release Kevorkian told 60 Minutes he would decline future requests for his services: “It would be painful for me, but I’d have to refuse them because I gave my word that I won’t do it again.”
Former New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre, 34, will have a new kid of his own when his real-estate-agent wife of four years, Barrett, 29, gives birth to their first child in November. “We’re thrilled,” the future dad (who kicks off the Dancing with the Stars summer tour June 20 in Austin) tells PEOPLE. “We just moved into a new house, so it’s all coming together.”
Comic Larry David, 59, of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, and wife Laurie, 49, an environmental activist, are going their separate ways after 14 years of marriage. “It’s completely amicable,” their rep says. “They are both really sad, but they are great friends. And they are still spending a lot of time together at their L.A. home with their kids.” The Davids have two daughters, Cazzie, 13, and Romy, 11.
PAX BECOMES A PITT
On May 31 a Santa Monica, Calif., court approved Angelina Jolie‘s request to change the last name of son Pax (left), from Jolie to Jolie-Pitt. Due to laws in Pax’s native Vietnam making the process difficult for unmarried couples, Jolie, 32, adopted the 3-year-old in March without the official involvement of boyfriend Brad Pitt (inset), 43. Pax and the rest of the stars’ brood—adopted kids Maddox, 5, and Zahara, 2, and biological baby Shiloh, 1—all share the hyphenated surname. Prior to his adoption, Pax (who was abandoned at a hospital as a baby) had been living at the Tam Binh orphanage outside Ho Chi Minh City.
