ARRESTEDVirginia Graham Foreman, 59, the daughter of Rev. Billy Graham, was arrested July 1 in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., after she allegedly pushed and choked her husband, Chad, 53, by a Kmart parking lot. Foreman, an author and public speaker, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and spent the night in jail. “I trust that this situation will be quickly and satisfactorily resolved,” said her brother Franklin. UPDATE On July 8, Dawnette Knight, 33, was sentenced to three years in prison for stalking and making criminal threats against actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 35, by sending disturbing letters last year (PEOPLE, Aug. 16, 2004). Zeta-Jones did not appear in court for sentencing, but a prosecutor read a note on her behalf that detailed some of Knight’s chilling behavior. “My life changed dramatically the day I found out that a total stranger wanted to kill me,” wrote the actress. “She was going to ‘blow my brains out like J.F.K.,’ [or] ‘slice me up and feed me to the dogs.’…Your actions will be with me for the rest of my life.” O.J. Simpson rang in his 58th birthday a day early on July 8 at China Grill in Miami Beach. Simpson, who’s a regular at the restaurant, noshed on lamb spareribs, calamari and chicken salad with a group of 12 friends. “He joked, Tm going to be 39,’ ” says restaurant manager Martine Vaval. THE GROENE CASEOn July 6, Shasta Groene, the 8-year-old Idaho girl who was abducted from her home two months ago and found at a Denny’s in Coeur d’Alene July 2, was released from a local hospital after five days of observation. Four days later, human remains found in Montana were identified as Shasta’s brother Dylan Groene, 9 (inset). Police charged repeat sex offender Joseph Duncan III, 42, who was with Shasta when she was rescued, with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder for the bludgeoning deaths of Shasta’s brother Slade, 13, their mother, Brenda, 40, and Brenda’s boyfriend Mark McKenzie, 37. Duncan also could face charges for Dylan’s murder. Duncan’s lawyer could not be reached for comment. Shasta, now at home with her father, Steven Groene, 48 (with her, left), is seeing a therapist, and her father says the family has been “walking on eggshells” around her. “She’s worried about whether this guy could chase her again,” says Steven. “We assure her he will not brutalize any more children.”
