On Oct. 28 in L.A., Susan Duff, 52, the mother and manager of singer-actress Hilary Duff, 18, was sued by the clothing company NTD Apparel for “unlawful, unfair, and deceptive business practices.” The suit alleges that Susan Duff and Rafter H (Duff’s entertainment company) violated a contract when they made other clothing deals. The “complaint is entirely without merit,” says Duff’s rep….The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against FOX News Nov. 7 in New York alleging discrimination against former FOX employee Kim Weiler and other female employees. The suit claims that two men at the network created a hostile work environment. “It is unfortunate that the EEOC has decided to bring a legally baseless claim against FOX News,” says Steve Mintz, a lawyer representing the network.


Ojani Noa, 31, the ex-husband of actress Jennifer Lopez, 36, dropped a suit he filed last year against his former wife that claimed he was wrongfully fired as manager of her Pasadena restaurant, Madre’s, in 2002. Noa did not give a reason for withdrawing the suit. Lopez’s rep could not be reached for comment.


A Tennessee student was taken into custody Nov. 8 after he allegedly shot and killed Ken Bruce, 48, the assistant principal of his Jacksboro high school, and wounded Gary Seale, principal of the school, and Jim Pierce, another assistant principal, on school grounds. Reportedly no students were injured in the shooting at Campbell County Comprehensive High School.


Court TV’s Ashleigh Banfield, 37, and her husband, Howard Gould, 32, a real estate financier, welcomed their first child, a boy, Jay Fischer, Oct. 22 in New York City. Banfield will co-host a daytime show for Court TV news starting next year…. “Big” Kenny Alphin,42,half of the Nashville duo Big & Rich, and his wife, Christiev, had their first child, a boy, Lincoln William Holiday, Nov. 2 in Nashville.

Conductor Skitch Henderson, 87, an English-born pianist who became the first bandleader for the “Tonight Show” in the 1950s, died of natural causes Nov. 1 in New Milford, Conn.
