On Dec. 29 actress Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), 36, and her longtime boyfriend, documentary filmmaker Julian Ozanne, tied the knot in a small ceremony attended by the bride’s and groom’s families on an island off the Kenyan coast. Piper, Gillian’s 10-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, was a bridesmaid.


Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, 34,the writer, director and star of the popular 2004 film Super Size Me, proposed to his girlfriend, Alexandra Jamieson, 29, a vegan chef who was featured in his movie. She said yes, though they have yet to set a date.


Actor Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), 60, and his wife, Kasia, welcomed their first child, a son, Gabriel Kasper, on Dec. 10 in L.A…. Grammy-winner Lou Rawls, 71, and his wife and personal manager, Nina, 34, welcomed son Aiden Allen on Jan. 10 in Akron. The child is the first for the couple. Rawls has three other children…. Actress Michael Michele (Kevin Hill), 38, and restaurateur Jimmy Rodriguez welcomed their first child, a son, on Dec. 21 in New York.


Citing irreconcilable differences, actor James Cromwell (Six Feet Under), 65, and wife Julie Cobb, 57, have filed for divorce after more than 18 years of marriage. They have no children.


Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s design team leader Ty Pennington, 40, underwent surgery for acute appendicitis Jan. 15 in his hometown of Atlanta. Pennington, who was filming an episode of the show, will continue working from his hospital bed. “Thanks to phones and e-mails, I will be able to maintain my part,” he said…. Steven Cojocaru, 42, a correspondent for TV’s Entertainment Tonight and The Insider (and former West Coast style editor for PEOPLE), underwent a successful kidney transplant Jan. 14 in L.A. Cojocaru, who received the kidney from a close friend, announced in November that he had polycystic kidney disease.


Spencer Dryden, 66, the drummer for the renowned rock group Jefferson Airplane, died of colon cancer Jan. 10 in Penngrove, Calif. Dryden, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 1996, worked on the groundbreaking album Surrealistic Pillow and performed with the group at Woodstock in 1969…. Actress Ruth Warrick, 88, who made her film debut as the wife of Orson Welles in the 1941 classic Citizen Kane, died Jan. 15 at her New York City home of complications from pneumonia. Warrick was best known for playing busybody Phoebe on the daytime soap All My Children since the show’s premiere in 1970.
