On Nov. 8 a Las Vegas judge granted an annulment to heiress Nicky Hilton, 21, and her husband, New York money manager Todd Meister, 33. The couple were married in a surprise ceremony Aug. 15 at the Vegas Wedding Chapel. According to a joint statement from reps for the couple, “They remain good friends.”


Christian Brando, 46, the son of the late Marlon Brando, wed artist Deborah Presley, 48 Oct. 16 at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. Presley says she is an illegitimate daughter of Elvis’s, but in 1988 a Memphis judge ruled that her claims have no legal merit. Brando was released in 1996 after serving nearly half of a 10-year prison sentence for the 1990 shooting death of his half sister’s lover. Presley says she saw a picture of Brando in 1987 and “loved him from that moment.”


Guitar Clapton, 59, and his wife of two years, Melia McEnery, 28, a graphic artist, are expecting their third child this spring. Daughter Julie is 3; Ella, 22 months. Clapton also has a 19-year-old daughter, Ruth…. George Stephanopoulos, 43, the anchor for ABC’s This Week, and his wife, actress Ali Wentworth, 39, are expecting their second child next year. The tot will join sister Elliott, 2.


Swimmer Michael Phelps, 19, who won eight medals at the summer Olympics, was charged with drunk driving Nov. 4 after police in Salisbury, Md., pulled him over for driving through a stop sign. “I made a mistake,” said Phelps. “I’m very sorry.”


Tiger Woods, 28, sued the maker of his 155-ft. luxury yacht Privacy Oct. 29 in Miami for allegedly using the golfer’s name and image for promotional purposes without permission. Woods claims that Christensen Shipyards violated a privacy agreement concerning his new $20 million yacht—which the golfer used on his recent honeymoon with wife Elin—by giving information to boating magazines. A rep for Christensen did not return calls for comment…. Jim Belushi, 50, sued his next-door neighbor, actress Julie Newmar, 71, Nov. 2 in L.A. for harassment. Belushi claims that Newmar, best known for playing Catwoman in the 1960s TV series Batman, threatened him, insulted him and spied on his family, among other “illegal and malicious” activities. A rep for the actress said Newmar had no comment at this time.


24 star Kiefer Sutherland, 37, was sentenced to 60 months’ probation and 293 hours of community service Nov. 2 in L.A. after pleading no contest to a DUI charge, stemming from an Oct. 29 arrest. The actor’s rep had no comment.
