Kelly Ripa, the cohost of Live with Regis and Kelly, and her husband, All My Children star Mark Consuelos, both 31, are anticipating the birth of their third child in February. The tot will join Michael, 5, and Lola, 1.


George Stephanopoulos, 41, anchor of ABC’s This Week, and his wife, actress Alexandra Wentworth (Jerry Maguire), 37, welcomed their first child, daughter Elliott Anastasia, on Sept. 9 in Washington, D.C. The couple wed in November 2001.


On Sept. 5 in L.A., Anne Marie Martin Crichton, who cowrote the screenplay for Twister, filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years, Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton, 59. The couple have one child together, Taylor Anne, 13.

On Sept. 6 in Brooklyn, Mob turncoat Sammy “The Bull” Gravano, 57, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for running a multimillion-dollar Ecstasy ring in Arizona. The former Gambino crime-family underboss moved to Phoenix and entered the Witness Protection Program in 1994 after he provided evidence against 39 mobsters including Gambino boss John Gotti, who died in prison in June.


On Sept. 9, while waiting on a sidewalk outside a Burbank, Calif., radio station where pop star Justin Timberlake was being interviewed, resident Anne White, 21, was killed when a pick-up truck ran over her. Later, Cameron Duty, 23, was arrested for murder, hit-and-run and driving under the influence. In a statement, Timberlake, 21, said, “I am horrified to learn of the senseless death.”…

Actor Ted Ross, 68, who won a Tony Award in 1975 for his role as the Cowardly Lion in the Broadway musical The Wiz, died of undisclosed causes in a Dayton, Ohio, hospital on Sept. 3. Ross also had a recurring role as a college dean on The Cosby Show and A Different World in the 1980s….

Ten days after marrying singer-pianist Keith Waa, 34, Cyrinda Foxe-Tyler, 50, the ex-wife of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, 54, and mother of plus-size model Mia Tyler, 24, died of brain cancer on Sept. 7 in New York City. In 1996 she wrote Dream On, a scathing tell-all about her life with the rock superstar.


Actress Patty Duke, 55, was hospitalized with a baseline skull fracture and a concussion on Sept. 4 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after she was bumped by her horse at her nearby ranch. Duke’s husband, Michael Pearce, said his wife’s prognosis is excellent…. Comedian Jerry Lewis, 76, who has been suffering from the lung ailment pulmonary fibrosis, collapsed moments before a London charity performance on Sept. 8. Lewis, who refused to be hospitalized, is resting comfortably at his London home….

Folk singer Gordon Light-foot, 63, was rushed to an Ontario, Canada, hospital on Sept. 7 and the next day had emergency surgery for a weak blood vessel in his abdomen. A doctor for the singer, known for hits such as “If You Could Read My Mind,” called his condition serious.
