Home Improvement’s Tim Allen, 46, who was looking a little thin at a recent Oscar party, underwent surgery to remove a portion of his intestine two months ago. His spokeswoman confirmed that the operation is related to the emergency appendectomy Allen had last October….

Megamannequin Kate Moss, 26, left a London hospital on March 25 following a stay of a few days for a severe kidney infection….

In mid-March a camera fell on the head of Britney Spears, 18, while she was making her latest video, titled “Oops!…I Did It Again.” The singer needed four stitches and was treated for a concussion.


Character actress Helen Martin, who played nosy neighbor Pearl Shay on the NBC sitcom 227 from 1985 to ’90, died of a heart attack on March 25 in L.A. She was 90….

British author and physician Alex Comfort, who wrote 1972’s The Joy of Sex, died on March 26 in Banbury, England. He was 80. The illustrated erotic manual, subtitled A Gourmet Guide to Lovemaking, is still in print, having sold more than 12 million copies.


Miami Beach club owner Ingrid Casares, 35, who is famous for being one of Madonna‘s best gal pals, is expecting her first child in October. Dad-to-be Dennis Schaller, 25, is a model.


Actor John Travolta, 46, and his wife of eight and a half years, actress Kelly Preston, 37, welcomed new daughter Ella Bleu (9 lbs.) on April 3 in L.A. Son Jett, named in honor of Travolta’s love of aviation, turns 8 on April 13….

Nearly six years after their White House wedding (the first such ceremony there since Tricia Nixon’s in 1971), the marriage of Tony Rodham, 45, the brother of First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Nicole Boxer Rodham, 32, the daughter of California Sen. Barbara Boxer, is on the rocks. Nicole filed for divorce on March 8, stating in court papers that she and her husband have been separated since last May. Tony is contesting the action.

While purchasing some cold medicine at an Austin, Texas, drugstore on March 22, ex-Dallas Cowboys football star Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson, 47, also bought $100 worth of quick-pick lottery tickets—and three days later claimed a $28 million prize. Despite losing more than half of that to taxes, Henderson plans to give much of the remainder to charity in an altruistic gesture motivated by overcoming his drug problem some years back.


American Beauty actress Mena Suvari, 21, and Robert Brinkmann, 38, a cinematographer, have revealed that they married in mid-March.
