Actress-director Illeana Douglas, 32, costar of To Die For and onetime companion of filmmaker Martin Scorsese, married Dave’s World producer Jonathan Axelrod, 48, on May 16 in New York City. It was her first marriage, his second.

On May 14, Home Improvement star Tim Allen, 44, left the rehab center he entered on April 16 for substance-abuse problems. Last year he was arrested for driving under the influence in Michigan.

Vegas standards-bearer Wayne Newton, 56, and Shenandoah South Inc., the outfit that ran the Wayne Newton Theatre in Branson, Mo., dropped their lawsuits against each other on May 13 in Springfield, Mo. Newton, in a $5 million claim, had said the company mismanaged his long-defunct concert hall and failed to pay him. Shenandoah counter-sued, saying Newton had damaged its reputation by telling fat jokes between songs. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but Newton said he was pleased with the outcome, danke schön….

Cop Land’s Michael Rapaport, 28, pleaded guilty on May 18 in Manhattan to aggravated harassment of his ex-girlfriend, I Shot Andy Warhol star Lili Taylor, 31. Rapaport was arrested last year after Taylor filed a complaint charging that, among other things, he had called her 21 times in four days. The judge ordered Rapaport to stay away from the actress and to undergo counseling for one year.


Julia lead Diahann Carroll, 62, had surgery to remove a small cancerous lump in her breast on May 14 in Los Angeles. Although doctors have given her a clean bill of health, she now begins a course of six radiation treatments….

Rock and roller Keith Richards, 54, fell from a chair in the library of his Connecticut estate on May 16, injuring his ribs and chest. The mishap, which landed the guitarist in the hospital briefly, forces a rescheduling of four dates on the Rolling Stones world tour.


In a roundup of dead-beat parents in Bergen County, N.J., on May 12, authorities arrested former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, 39, at his Upper Saddle River mansion. Though he signed a $6 million-plus contract in 1984 and now earns a yearly income in the high five figures by various means, Taylor owed $6,000 in child support and an outstanding motor vehicle charge. He forked over the money and was released.


Editorial-cartoonist-turned-tennis-coach Karolj Seles, 64, who in 1980 enticed his 6-year-old daughter Monica Seles to the game of tennis by drawing cartoon characters on the balls, died of stomach cancer on May 14 in Sarasota, Fla. Under his tutelage, Monica, now 24, became the No. 1 female player in 1991.


Baywatch alum Traci Bingham, 30, who proved her see-worthiness for two seasons on the show, announced her plan to marry TV and film composer Robb Vallier, 28, on Aug. 29. The couple, who met in 1991, will I-do it in Ames, Iowa, where the bridegroom’s parents live….

Four-foot tall actor Danny Woodburn, 33, who played Kramer’s sidekick Mickey on Seinfeld, and actress Amy Buchwald, 36 (and 5 feet), will tie the knot in immeasurable bliss come September.
