Dudley Moore’s estranged wife, Nicole, 32, filed a $5 million suit in Los Angeles against the 62-year-old actor, claiming that he had terrorized her by chasing her around the house, grabbing her by the neck and choking her during their two-year marriage—Moore’s fourth. The actor began divorce proceedings last year….

On May 13, a Baltimore judge sentenced actor John Heard, 51, to 18 months of supervised probation and ordered him to seek psychological counseling for harassing his former girlfriend, Homicide star Melissa Leo, 36, by making more than 100 phone calls to her home over two months. Heard, who has a child, Jack, 9, with Leo, claimed he was trying to stay in contact with his son….

Actress Kristen Amber, 27, filed a criminal complaint with L.A. police on May 7, alleging that Farrah Fawcett, 50, stole $72,000 worth of Amber’s clothes and destroyed $2,400 worth of nude photos stored at the home of Amber’s friend, director James Orr, 44, who she claims was dating the onetime Charlie’s Angels star. Fawcett, who ended a 17-year relationship with actor Ryan O’Neal in March, said the complaint is part of an extortion plot by Amber and that she and Orr are “just friends.”

Tabloid talk show host Jerry Springer, 52, quit his job as a guest commentator for a Chicago television station on May 8 after just two appearances. The station’s veteran anchor-woman Carol Marin, 48, had resigned in protest over Springer’s hiring, maintaining his presence would compromise the station’s journalistic integrity. Springer said that he had grown weary of the controversy.

Opera diva Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, 53, who performed at the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, has separated from her husband and former manager, Des Park, 54. Park broke off their 30-year marriage with a telegram while his wife was touring in Brazil.

Actor Patrick Swayze, 44, broke his right leg on May 9 in Ione, Calif., after falling off a horse while shooting a scene for his current movie Letters from a Killer. Swayze, airlifted by helicopter to a hospital, is recovering after surgery.

Actor James Woods, 50, is engaged to actress Missy Crider, 22, who played defendant Sharon Rooney on the ABC series Murder One. The marriage would be Woods’s third and Crider’s first….

Karenna Gore, 23, oldest child of the Vice President and his wife, has moved the date of her wedding to New York City internist Andrew Schiff, 31, up to July 12.

Capt. Mark Phillips, 48, ex-husband of Britain’s Princess Anne, and his wife, American heiress Sandy Pflueger, 42, are expecting their first child in October. Phillips and the princess, who divorced in 1992 after 19 years of marriage, have two children, Peter, 19, and Zara, 16.

Italian director Marco Ferreri, 68, died on May 9 in Paris of a heart attack. La Grande Bouffe (1973) was the best known of his many films….

Magician Harry Blackstone, whose stage shows were a legacy of an earlier era, died May 14 in Loma Linda, Calif., from complications of pancreatic cancer. He was 62.
