Singer Tito Jackson, 42, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against businessman Donald J. Bohana, 59, in the 1994 death of Jackson’s ex-wife Delores, mother of Jackson’s three children. The suit, filed May 17 in Los Angeles, alleges that Bohana drowned Delores, 39, in his pool after assaulting her. Bohana’s attorney Nelson Atkins called the allegations “a whole lot of garbage.”…

After pleading guilty to first-degree murder, Larry Martin Demery, 21, was sentenced to life in prison on May 20 by a Lumberton, N.C., jury in connection with the 1993 slaying of James Jordan, 57, father of basketball star Michael Jordan….

Wiseguy’s Ken Wahl, 39, pleaded no contest to a charge of disturbing the peace by playing his music too loud and on May 15 was sentenced by a Malibu court to six months’ probation. He was arrested in January after a neighbor complained of the noise coming from Wahl’s residence….

A former editor of The World Almanac and Book of Facts, George Delury, 63, was sentenced to six months in jail by a New York State judge on May 17 after pleading guilty to attempted manslaughter in the death last July of his wife, writer Myrna Lebov (PEOPLE, Feb. 26), 52. Delury admitted that he served his wife, who had suffered for more than 20 years from multiple sclerosis, a fatal cocktail of water, honey and antidepressants but said she had told him she wanted to die. Lebov’s relatives said Delury pressured her to kill herself….

Actress Hunter Tylo, 33, filed an employment discrimination suit against Aaron Spelling’s production companies in L.A. superior court on May 13, charging them with wrongfully withdrawing their offer of a role on Melrose Place next season after learning she was pregnant. A statement for Spelling Television said the role—that of a sexy adulteress—was “simply incompatible with [Tylo’s] pregnancy” and that the company offered the actress another part during the show’s 1997-98 season….

Terry Adamson (age and occupation unavailable) is seeking unspecified damages in a lawsuit filed on May 17 in L.A.’s superior court that claims actor Mel Gibson’s “unleashed and uncontrolled” Australian cattle dog Maverick attacked her without warning as she was walking near the star’s Malibu home on May 20, 1995. There was no comment from Gibson’s lawyer.

Former TV producer-director Chet Forte, 60, died of a heart attack on May 18 at his Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., home. Forte introduced multiple camera angles and onscreen graphics on ABC’s Monday Night Football, which debuted in 1970, helping to change the way TV covers sports. He won 11 Emmys during 25 years at the network, but a gambling addiction prompted him to leave ABC in 1987. Forte was a talk show host at a San Diego sports radio station when he died….

Actor Barton Heyman, 59, died of heart failure on May 15 in Manhattan. His last movie role was in the film Dead Man Walking as the prison guard captain who utters the movie’s title phrase as he clears the way to the death chamber for a condemned killer….

Flamboyant rhythm-and-blues pioneer Johnny “Guitar” Watson, 61, died of a heart attack on May 17 after taking the stage for a performance at Japan’s Yokohama Blues Cafe. He influenced musicians such as Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa….

Richard M. Clurman, 72, TIME magazine’s first chief of correspondents, died of a heart attack at his Long Island, N.Y., summer home on May 15. Known for his energy and generosity, Clurman later served as New York City’s parks commissioner. He wrote several books, including 1992’s To the End of Time, a critical account of the merger of Time Inc. and Warner Communications.

Reg Green, 67, and his wife, Maggie, 35—who donated the organs of their 7-year-old son, Nicholas, to seven Italians after the boy was killed by bandits during a 1994 family vacation in Italy—had twins on May 21. Laura (5 lbs. 2 ozs.) and Martin (6 lbs. 6 ozs.) were born at a Santa Rosa, Calif., hospital. Their sister Eleanor is 6…. Paul Newman, 71, and Joanne Woodward, 66, are first-time grandparents. Dale Evans, 83, wife and costar of singing cowboy Roy Rogers, is recovering at California’s Loma Linda University Medical Center from a stroke she suffered May 12. She is expected to be released in four weeks….

Surgeons at a Santa Monica hospital repaired the fractured right leg of actor Hal Linden, 65, on May 21. Linden injured himself during a concert rehearsal with Lucie Arnaz at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. The former Barney Miller star will be sidelined for six weeks.
