Double Oscar-winner Tom Hanks, 39, and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, 39, welcomed their second child, son Truman Theodore (7 lbs., 10 ozs.), on Dec. 26 in a Los Angeles hospital. The couple’s first son, Chester, is 5. Hanks has two children from a previous marriage….

Singer Sting, 44, and wife Trudie Styler, 39, an independent film producer, welcomed son Giacomo Luke Sumner (7 lbs., 11 ozs.), on Dec. 17 in the Portland Hospital in London. The two have three other children of their own, and Sting has two children from a previous marriage….

Actress Annie Potts, 43, the voice of Bo Peep in Toy Story, gave birth to Isaac Harris on Dec. 27 at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Isaac, who weighed in at 7 lbs., 2 ozs, is the second child of Potts and husband Jim Hayman, 42, a television and film director. The couple have a son, Doc, 3; Potts has a son Clay, 17, from an earlier marriage.

World War II naval hero Adm. Arleigh A. Burke, 94, died of complications of pneumonia on Jan. 1 at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. Burke, who served as a destroyer squadron commander in the Pacific, was nicknamed 31 Knot Burke for his ability to lead his squadron on highspeed dashes while engaging in exploits against the Japanese naval forces. His war service brought him 13 decorations, including the Distinguished Service Medal. The admiral was appointed Chief of Naval Operations by President Eisenhower in 1955….

Charlie Chaplin’s second wife, actress Lita Grey Chaplin, 88, died of cancer on Dec. 29 at the Motion Picture & Television Fund Hospital in Woodland Hills, Calif. Born Lillita Louise MacMurray, she appeared in Chaplin’s 1921 silent film The Kid at age 12; at 16 she became his bride. The couple, who had two sons, actor Sydney Chaplin, 68, and the late Charles Jr., divorced three years later. After her divorce, Chaplin began a successful career singing in nightclubs. In 1965 she wrote a memoir, My Life with Charlie Chaplin….

Al DeRogatis, a former defensive tackle for the New York Giants who went on to provide color commentary for NBC’s NFL Game of the Week from 1958 to ’75, died of cancer on Dec. 26 in Neptune, N.J. He was 68.

Former Falcon Crest star Billy Moses, 36, filed for legal separation on Dec. 29 in L.A. superior court from Father Dowling Mysteries actress Tracy Nelson, 32, daughter of singer Ricky Nelson. The couple, who wed in 1987, have one daughter, Remington, 3.

Actor Ken Wahl, 38, was arrested in Malibu on Dec. 29 and charged with disturbing the peace. Wahl, who had disturbed a neighbor by allegedly playing music too loud at home, spent the night in jail after he was unable to post $5,000 bail immediately. He is slated to appear in court on Feb. 16….

Jeffrey Bownes, 43, husband of singer Bonnie Pointer, 44, formerly of the Pointer Sisters, was arrested on Dec. 24 and charged with battery after he allegedly hit both his wife and her singing sister June Pointer, 42, during a Christmas Eve party at June’s L.A. home. Bownes pleaded innocent to the charges.
