With wife Courtney Kennedy, 37, and mother-in-law Ethel Kennedy by his side, Paul Hill, 39, who spent 16 years in prison for alleged IRA bombings—including the destruction of a pub in Guildford, as depicted in the movie In the Name of the Father—before being released when his conviction was overturned in 1989, was cleared on April 21 of charges that he murdered a former British soldier in Belfast in 1974. On April 25, a Los Angeles jury found tressed-out singer Michael Bolton, 41, guilty of copyright infringement for making his 1991 hit “Love Is a Wonderful Thing” substantively similar to the Isley Brothers 1966 hit of the same name. Bolton’s updated “Love,” credited only to him and a cowriter, helped sell more than 10 million copies of Bolton’s album Time, Love & Tenderness. The jury is now considering the issue of monetary damages.

Actor Dom DeLuise, 60, has been charged with criminal sexual contact by Atlantic City police, based on the complaint of a male employee of Merv Griffin’s Resorts Casino Hotel. The police declined to elaborate on the details of the complaint. DeLuise, married and the father of three grown children, denied the charges to police.

Actress Andie MacDowell, 36, costar of both Bad Girls and Four Weddings and a Funeral, is expecting her third child this fall. She and her thirty-something husband, Paul Qualley. an actor and model, have a son, Justin, 7, and a daughter. Rainey, 5.

Sacrebleu! C’est Elvis! Singer Johnny Hallyday, 50, often touted as France’s answer to the King (le Roi), remarried his third wife, Adeline Blondiau, 23, in Las Vegas on April 16, two years after their divorce. The couple first married in 1990….

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips, 32, married New Jersey model Kelly Preston, 26, on April 24 at his home in Hollywood. (The bride is not the Kelly Preston married to actor John Travolta.)

Just days after he declined a Supreme Court nomination, retiring Senate majority leader George Mitchell, 60, of Maine, went public with plans to marry Heather MacLachlan, 35, a director at a New York City-based sports marketing firm. No wedding date has been set. It will be the first marriage for MacLachlan and the second for Mitchell, who has a grown daughter by a previous marriage.

Not feelin’ good—MI about his marriage, that is—the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. 61, has filed for a legal separation from his fourth wife. Adrienne, 43….

Former First Daughter Amy Carter. 26, has put off indefinitely her May 28 wedding to her longtime friend, Michael Antonucci. 27. Carter, now a graduate student at Georgia State University, gave no reason for postponing.
