MY STYLE SECRETS

THE BAND PERRY SINGER SHARES SOME OF HER BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

OVERALL STYLE “Tomboy and feminine. When I was a kid, I was more of a tomboy, and when I got older, I fell in love with fashion. So I’m a mixture of the two.”

FAVORITE FEATURE “My hair. It’s my superpower! If it doesn’t have height, my performance will be flat too!”

BEAUTY SPLURGE “Facials and massages. Touring takes a toll on my skin and body, so I pamper myself to avoid ‘road wrinkles.'”

BEST BEAUTY TRICK “Stay hydrated. I drink a ton of water every day. I thought it was an old wives’ tale, but my skin is clearer and has a luster about it.”

COUNTRY STYLE ICONS “Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline. They had attitude and honed a unique appearance. And I love that old, blingy western wear.”

I FEEL BEAUTIFUL WHEN… “I’m at home in my workout clothes without a stitch of makeup! And then when I’m onstage in full makeup and full wardrobe, singing country songs with country fans.”

BEAUTY BARGAIN

“Neutrogena Healthy Volume Waterproof mascara. I love drugstore mascaras.” ($7.49; neutrogena.com)

FAVORITE HAIR PRODUCT

“Davines Melu Conditioner. It’s marvelous for curly hair!” ($26; davines.com for salons)

SKIN SAVER

“Kiehl’s Abyssine Lotion + SPF 15. I put it on first thing in the morning and at night.” ($43; kiehls.com)

FAVE SCENT

“Bond No. 9 NYC Chinatown. It’s powdery and not too overwhelming.” ($160; bondno9.com)

FAVE NAIL POLISH

“Butter London in the Full Monty. The gold color matches my skin tone and hair.” ($14; butterlondon.com)

CARRIE’S NEW DO

Carrie Underwood debuted new fringe around her face at the iHeartRadio event Sept. 23. “She’s been wanting bangs for a while, and she knew they’d grow out if she didn’t like them, so we went for it,” says her stylist Melissa Schleicher. “They’re fun and edgy.” To get Carrie’s look, ask your stylist for texturized bangs right past your brow with soft layering around the face.

TIP Long fringe requires a trim every two weeks, says Schleicher. But some salons offer free bang trims, so don’t be shy to ask!

Bangs How-to To keep bangs looking salon-styled, use a thickening spray at the roots and blow bangs out with a large round brush.

Gary’s Hot Shop!

THE STAR REVEALS HIS CRUSH ON COUTURE WITH A FASHION-FORWARD STORE

Gary Allan may not sell you the shirt off his back, but you can get a taste of the singer’s edgy style at the Label, a men’s boutique he and his longtime stylist Renee Layher recently opened in Nashville. After countless shopping trips to both coasts, the partners decided Music City men needed a one-stop shop for high-end duds. “I thought the town was ready for it,” Allan says. “Men have been underrepresented here when it comes to outside-the-box fashion.”

Star sighting? “You won’t find me behind the counter taking credit cards, but I’m here a lot,” Allan says. Fave wares include “beautifully cut” suits by Tony Sartino. “I’ve been in jeans and T-shirts for years, but I love his suits.”
