THE JUGGLER

At 40, McBride has eight platinum albums, a new CD in the works and a bustling home life thanks to husband John and daughters Delaney, 11, Emma, 8, and Ava, 1. Her secret to keeping everything happily balanced without a full-time nanny? Priorities.(Plus a little support from best friend Faith Hill.)

Rule No. 1: Know what’s important.

“Once I took Emma to the pediatrician and someone said, ‘You take your own kids to the doctor?’ I thought, ‘Yeah. It’s kind of big. I wouldn’t want someone else doing it.'”

Rule No. 2: Kids don’t know celebrity.

“I get on my kids, make them do chores, brush their teeth, do their homework. Sometimes they’ll see me on TV and say, ‘Oh, yeah. You do that too.'”

Rule No. 3: Friends help.

Faith and I “have a common perspective. We talk about how to handle things, whether it’s school or an ear infection. It’s just normal stuff.”
