MARIAH CAREY‘S WEDDING

“I couldn’t wait to read about Nick and Mariah’s marriage—much love and happiness to them”

Denise Bruner

Cold Spring, Ky.

I know there will be a lot of naysayers out there who will criticize Mariah and Nick for what may seem like an impulsive decision to marry, but some whirlwind romances can actually work out. Two things no one can argue with: Nick and Mariah both look totally enthralled, and the bride was absolutely stunning in her wedding gown.

Maureen Mikeska

Houston, Texas

Mariah is once again at the top of the music charts, her body is in great shape, and now she has found true love with Nick Cannon. This is a dream come true. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them.

Michelle Thomas

Chesterfield, Mo.

What was Mariah thinking—getting married so quickly to a much younger man? I just hope she had a prenup.

MONTEL WILLIAMS

Montel Williams wasn’t afraid to handle controversial subjects like war, racism, AIDS and child abuse. And he didn’t just talk about problems; he jumped in feetfirst to help solve them. He was a talk show host with a keen mind as well as a heart and conscience. He definitely will be missed.

MICHAEL BUBLE

Wow is all I can say! I love Michael Bublé and was thrilled to see him. As I was skimming through the issue, I came across a picture of him with a pretty woman who I thought was one of his younger sisters. I was shocked to read that this woman is his mother, Amber Bublé. I want to know her secret to looking so good. I also want a date with her son (just don’t tell my husband).

ROBERT DOWNEY JR.

As a longtime fan of Robert Downey Jr.’s, I couldn’t be more proud of his recovery and success. My brother lost his own battle with drug addiction five years ago, and I miss him every day. Robert is an inspiration to people everywhere. I wish him and his family the best.

Christine Guyette

Massena, N.Y.

I was thrilled to read that Robert Downey Jr. has conquered his demons and is back on top. With the love and support of his beautiful wife, Susan, and his son Indio, there is no holding back this gifted and talented actor. I am expecting great things from him.

MALE BRIDESMAIDS

Readers happily accepted the notion of modern brides enlisting pals of the opposite sex to be their bridal attendants. “Good for those women who choose their dearest friends to stand behind them on their wedding day—even if those friends are guys,” writes Cheryl Mango of New York City, who had five bridesmen at her wedding. Agrees Jill Rose of Greenville, S.C.: “This is one trend I’d like to see continue. When my daughter and her husband married, she had a bridesman, and he had a groomslady!” Since our story ran, Wendy Jones Kopp married her husband, David. Kopp reports that Anthony West, her male of honor, offered a beautiful and emotional toast, saying he was “so happy David and I finally found the right person to marry.”

Corrections

In our May 26 issue, in the review of The Babysitters, we misspelled the last names of Katherine Waterston and her father, Law & Order‘s Sam Waterston. In the same issue, we should have said the photo of Selena Gomez on the set of Barney & Friends was taken in 2002. And in Star Tracks, we incorrectly reported that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took their boys on a Caribbean cruise. They were in the Mediterranean.
