Nutritionist Gretchen Peyton of Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital put Jones on a daily 1,600-calorie diet but allows her one cheat meal a week. Now, instead of takeout, Jones cooks healthy dinners like tomato basil chicken with her fiancé, Jeffrey Vaughn, 26. Says Jones: “This has been surprisingly easy-and rewarding.”

The vegan, 41, learned to love cooking tofu and working out three times a week. Now 8 lbs. slimmer, she says when she plays with her sons, “I tire them out!”

“I’ve improved on the simplest things, like jumping rope,” says the 5’1″ nonprofit-events organizer, 31, who teams up with No Gym Fitness trainer Thomas Roe four times a week for hour-long sessions that include circuit training and running stairs.
Nutritionist Michelle Loy of Go Wellness cut Quintero’s daily calories from 2,500 to 1,600. Her fiancé, Raymond Otero, 29, had to revamp his diet too. “We used to buy fast food meals” late at night, says Quintero, who no longer waits to eat dinner at 11 p.m. when Otero gets home. Still, he’s her biggest cheerleader. “It makes a huge difference having him by my side.”
