John Mayer hasn’t released new solo music since his 2014 single “XO,” but the singer-songwriter announced on Thursday that he’ll drop a new song, “Love on the Weekend,” on Nov. 17.
Mayer has teased a forthcoming album for a few months, though he hasn’t revealed too many details. The John Mayer Trio’s drummer Steve Jordan revealed that the collection will be called The Search for Everything, and when asked when fans will be able to hear new tunes back in October, Mayer said “very, very soon.”
Though Mayer hasn’t exactly revealed what “Love on the Weekend” will be, but he teased a clip of new, guitar-based jazz music on his Instagram story.
Since releasing his last studio album Paradise Valley in 2013, Mayer has been busy touring as the lead guitarist with Dead & Company, the revitalized band featuring Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann. Mayer has toured with them extensively, celebrating 50 years of the Grateful Dead, in 2015 and 2016.
