Bowling for dollars: Last month, after a concert in San Jose, Calif., Justin Timberlake and about 20 pals descended upon the Yerba Buena Bowling Center in San Francisco for a private after-hours session. “The very first thing they wanted to know is if they could get a discount,” bowling manager Barbara McBride tells me.
“They were the cheapest people.” McBride ended up not charging Timberlake’s gang for bowling shoes. Then, at the end of the night, the singer’s bodyguards tried (unsuccessfully) to pay the $400 bowling fee and $185 beer tab with tickets to one of Timberlake’s upcoming concerts. Even more galling, McBride says, was that Timberlake’s people then charged her employees $20 per signature to autograph two bowling pins. Ken Sunshine, Timberlake’s rep, denies that anyone tried to sell the singer’s autograph. “The whole thing sounds ridiculous,” he says. “I don’t believe this happened. But he does love bowling, and he’s a damn good bowler.”

The father is her once-estranged husband, professional surfer Laird Hamilton. Reece had filed for divorce from Hamilton in March 2001, but the couple quietly reunited that same year. The baby is due in late September.
Talk about a hot
star. On July 1 Bo Derek was alone at her ranch in California’s Santa Ynez Valley when a brush fire broke out on the property next to hers. Spotting the flames, Derek grabbed a garden hose and did her best to contain the fire. In the hot, dry conditions, it quickly grew and spread to the roof of Derek’s home. Fortunately, firefighters arrived soon and contained the blaze. There was some damage to Derek’s home but not enough to force her to leave. “She’s fine,” says a rep for the actress. “She wasn’t hurt.”

Beverly Hills eatery Crustacean closed its doors to the public in order to host the first-ever Crustacean Unplugged, a hush-hush party hosted by Wyclef Jean for music-industry A-listers and their pals. Lil’ Kim, Vivica A. Fox, Eve, Missy Elliott, Brian McKnight and Don Cheadle were just some of the stars gathered to witness a night of impromptu singing, including an a cappella duet by Faith Hill and Stevie Wonder. Now Crustacean’s owners are promising to make the Sunday parties monthly, and they’ve already lined up Chaka Khan and Macy Gray to play the 300-seat room on July 13. Good luck getting a reservation: Most $500 tables and $40 seats at the bar have been scarfed up.
