Ozzy Osbourne has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for decades, but his 18-year-old son Jack’s recent troubles (he’s entering his sixth week in rehab, though he’s now allowed out on Saturdays) have jolted the aging rocker into giving sobriety another try. The Prince of Darkness says he hasn’t taken a drink or puffed on a joint in more than a month, and he’s even running about five miles a day. “Jack and I are racing,” says Ozzy, “to be the first one to 100 days sober.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have yet to announce a wedding date, but J.Lo’s ex-boyfriend Sean “P. Diddy” Combs has already picked out a gift: a pair of Rolls-Royces. We caught up with Combs at the Endeavor talent agency’s MTV Movie Awards preparty (sponsored by LG mobile phones and Ciroc vodka), where the music mogul filled us in on his plans for the couple. “I heard they have some Bentleys,” says Combs, “but I want to upgrade them to Rolls-Royces—his and hers.” But Puffy says he won’t be at the ceremony to deliver the gifts in person: “I don’t want anybody to feel uncomfortable.”

Looks like these guys are serious about this engagement thing: Last week The Bachelor‘s Andrew Firestone and his chosen one, Jennifer Schefft, went to Chicago to move her out of her apartment. On May 27 the couple made an appearance at BIN 36 restaurant, where Firestone spent hours signing and selling cases of his family’s wine. In what turned out to be a going-away party, Schefft introduced him to 20 of her friends who came to the event. Two days later Andrew and Jen packed up her stuff and left for their new life together in San Francisco.

He may be lord of cyberspace in The Matrix: Reloaded, but in real life Keanu Reeves doesn’t own a computer. Says the actor’s buddy Robert Mailhouse, “He’s more of a reader.” Mailhouse played drums for Reeves’s band Dog Star, and the two are in a new group called becky. Lead singer Rebecca Lord says the band has recorded 13 songs—some of which were cowritten by Reeves—and they’ll soon send a demo to record companies.

Although Paul Newman is up for a Best Actor Tony for his lead role in the Broadway revival of Our Town, you won’t see the 78-year-old star at the ceremonies on June 8. In a letter to the Tony committee, the actor explained that once he turned 70, he resolved to forgo all awards. “Not out of arrogance, but simply because I had been honored enough for all normal purposes,” wrote Newman. “I also burned my tuxedo, eliminating that problem. A resolution isn’t worth much if there are exceptions.”

For six Fridays in a row, Britney Spears has shown up at Manhattan’s Show nightclub. On May 30 she dropped in with her brother Bryan, a group of girlfriends and her omnipresent bodyguard, who even accompanied her to the dance floor, where she shimmied to a Justin Timberlake tune.
