Farrah Fawcett was so eager to work with director Robert Altman that she chartered her own plane to fly from Nova Scotia (where she was shooting Baby, a TNT movie due Oct. 8) down to the Dallas set of Dr. T and the Women, Altman’s romantic comedy starring Richard Gere. Moreover, the actress literally changed her look en route. Fawcett’s legendary mane was brown for the small screen, but she dyed it blonde on the plane for her role as Gere’s troubled wife. (She dyed it back to brown when she returned to the set of Baby three days later.)

If you’re blown away by Gwyneth Paltrow‘s dulcet tones in Duets, you aren’t alone. Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who sings a duet with her over the film’s closing credits, had to be convinced that the Oscar-winning actress could sing before he would record “Just My Imagination” with her. Turns out the R&B artist and producer was so taken with Paltrow’s sultry voice that he talked to her about a recording career. Paltrow wasn’t interested, but she did sing “Cruisin’ ” in the film with costar Huey Lewis as well as “Bette Davis Eyes.” Alas, not everybody in the cast was a natural-born belter. ER alum Maria Bello took lessons for three months to master “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” and “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” and has now become obsessed with karaoke.

V.I.P.’s Natalie Raitano recently gave her castmate Pamela Anderson the star treatment with a day of pampering and lunch at the Skin Spa in Encino, Calif. While Raitano enjoyed the Spa Sampler (salt glow rub, massage, facial, paraffin treatments for hands and feet), her costar did the Spa Interlude (an exfoliating scrub, Vichy shower, massage, facial, manicure and pedicure).

Don’t be startled if you get stopped by Olympic gold medalist and breast-cancer survivor Peggy Fleming or The View’s Star Jones in New York City’s Bryant Park on Oct. 4. They will ask strangers to call their loved ones on a wireless phone and encourage them to get a breast exam as part of the Samsung/ Sprint PCS Speak Out for Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Once and Again’s Sela Ward also donated her time to narrate a video on breast cancer as part of the event.
