• Place a bouquet of rainbow-colored roses in each guest room. “They are always beautiful and universally accepted,” says Johnson.

• Provide two sets of towels, washcloths and hand towels for each guest. “It allows you not to be housekeeping constantly,” he says.

• Down as well as regular-stuffed pillows, hypoallergenic pillowcases, a comforter and a throw are must-haves for every bed.

• “Ask about dietary restrictions ahead of time, and stock the fridge with juice, nuts and snacks. Nobody turns down a beautiful bowl of fruit.”
