JAMAICA’S TRIDENT VILLAS & HOTEL is the in inn for vacationing celebs. John F. Kennedy Jr., Glenn Close, Tom Cruise and Whoopi Goldberg have all slept there—though not together, of course—so why, on Nov. 26, was this Caribbean resort swarming with Homicide detectives?

Because Clark Johnson, 37, who plays Det. Meldrick Lewis on the critically acclaimed NBC crime series, was about to collar ex-model Heather Salmon, 30, at the altar. Among the 60 friends and relatives who flew in for the 5 p.m. oceanfront nuptials were six Homicide cast members: Kyle Secor, Jon Polito and working couples Richard Belzer and Harlee McBride and Andre Braugher and Ami Brabson.

“Everyone we love is here,” marveled Johnson, dapper in a double-breasted ivory suit. His bride wore a blush-colored Armani dress and veil. When the couple met 16 months ago, both were in sweats at an aerobics class in Toronto, where Salmon is now a special-events coordinator for pro basketball’s Toronto Raptors. Johnson, a Philadelphia native who moved to Toronto in 1972, immediately asked her out. Salmon, then seeing someone else, demurred but later changed her mind when Johnson sent two messengers to her locker room—his daughters by a first marriage, Casandra, now 11, and Michaela, 9, of whom he shares custody. “They’re great kids,” says Salmon. “Hopefully we’ll have a couple more.”

After the guests topped off a traditional Jamaican meal with a three-tier, rum-soaked wedding cake, Johnson toasted his bride with a long, sensual kiss. Blared Belzer: “Get a room!”
