Her first act as an 18-year-old? “I registered to vote online in my pajamas,” says Taylor Swift, who hit the milestone Dec. 13. The civic-minded singer then turned her attention to more pressing matters: getting glam for the party her parents were throwing for her at Nashville hot spot Lot 7. “The night was all about Taylor,” says her father, Scott. Which meant plenty of pink. Everything was decked out in variations of her favorite hue—from Swift’s fuchsia Betsy Johnson dress to the brand-new bubblegum-colored truck she received as a gift from her record label.
The singer partied with some 200 guests, including Kellie Pickler, Chuck Wicks and Big & Rich‘s John Rich (who gave the birthday girl a Judith Leiber bag) and snacked on sushi, chicken satay and fried green tomatoes. But the best part about turning 18? “I wanted a No. 1 record, and I got that,” says Swift of her chart-topper “Our Song.” “And I got something I didn’t even ask for: a Grammy nomination. It’s been a great year.”
