When talk turns to tweezing, Debra Messing dissolves into laughter. Recounting her awkward first time, the auburn-haired star of NBC’s hit sitcom Will & Grace says, “It was a revelation!” It happened the day she showed up for her role as Keanu Reeves‘s wife in the 1995 film A Walk in the Clouds. “The makeup artist took one look at me and said, ‘Oh honey!’ ” Messing, 33, recalls. “She sat me down and before I knew it, I had 1940s pencil-thin eyebrows!” Now a regular client of renowned Beverly Hills “star plucker” Anastasia Soare, Messing insists, “Nothing affects your face more than your eyebrows!” Of course, the 5’7½” actress has other attributes. Says Will & Grace costar Sean Hayes: “When Debra walks into a room, I just stare and think, ‘Jesus, you’ve got good genes.’ ” The big-screen star of Woody Allen’s new Hollywood Ending also credits genetics with her lean build and “interesting but not beautiful” face. “My background is Russian and Polish, so my face is wide and strong and easy to transform with makeup,” she says. Not that she should. Her actor-screenwriter husband, Daniel Zelman, 34, with whom Messing shares an L.A. home, prefers “not a lick of makeup,” she says. “He’s happiest when I am simply à la Debra.’
