The bride wore plastic—and a shower cap. In mid-ceremony a giant eagle ray smacked her in the face mask. Meanwhile the groom fought off an 85-pound turtle, Fred, who was munching on the bridal gown. Otherwise the underwater wedding of Mary Zacharias, 19, and Mark Macurda, 21, went off swimmingly in a 150,000-gallon tank at Sea World in Orlando, Fla. Some 600 species of fish attended while 100 guests watched.

Both Mary and Mark are experienced divers. “I wasn’t nervous,” the bride bubbled. After a 20-minute ceremony, performed by a notary public, the couple removed their mouthpieces to seal it all with a wet kiss. “We wanted a different wedding,” gurgled the groom. “I had a great time.”
