For many HBOGo users, Sunday night was a night of true disappointment.

Rabid fans of the elaborate, moody Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson-anchored drama True Detective swarmed to HBO’s streaming service Sunday night in such droves, they literally broke the service.

Fittingly for a show that dedicated much of its screen time to discussions of nothingness and nihilism, HBOGo’s entreaty to “please try again soon” must have felt like touching the void for some users, who took to social media to vent their frustration.

Our theory? The Yellow King did it.
