Trista Sutter won’t allow her terrifying medical emergency to keep her from living life.
Earlier this month, the former Bachelorette suffered a seizure while on vacation with her family in Croatia. But despite the life-threatening incident, Trista, her husband Ryan, and their two children — son Maxwell ‘Max’ Alston, 9, and daughter Blakesley Grace, 8 — are continuing to maximize and enjoy their time in Europe since the ABC alum was released from the hospital.
“Today, among the thousands of steps we took through the city of Paris, were the 300 steps we climbed & descended at the Dome of Sacre Coeur. Full of energy, they were ready to get there. Full of caution, I was ready to take my time…and I did with their help,” Trista captioned an Instagram image on Monday of her family standing on a stairwell.
“They reminded me to be careful & hold on to the rails, Max kept looking back up to me to make sure I was ok and @ryansutter walked in front or behind to catch me if I fell,” she wrote about her husband and son looking out for her well-being while descending the flight of stairs.
While Trista hopes that she will never suffer another seizure again, she is thankful for her family, who she knows will stand by her side whatever she may face in the future.
“God forbid I have another seizure in my lifetime, but if I do, I am thankful to have them by my side,” she concluded, and added the hashtags, “#family #grateful #sacrecoeur #cantstopliving #wontstopliving #jetaimeparis.”
The mother of two took to Instagram a day after suffering the seizure to inform her fans and followers of the incident that transpired in front of her family.
“This was me yesterday. …two hours after I had a seizure. …two hours after I fell on my daughter’s chest & she watched, along with her brother & grandparents, in confusion & horror as her mommy stared blankly off into the distance & started turning blue. …two hours after we were supposed to have an adventure. An adventure to one of the most beautiful National Parks in Europe,” she wrote in the candid post.

Reflecting on the scary moment, Trista admitted that she has “never been perfect” and she “never will be,” but moving forward she is vowing, “to try my best to live this life to the fullest. To embrace gratitude and the lessons I wrote about over 3 years ago with a newly acquired perspective. To stress less. To love more. To listen. Be kind. Spread joy. To be a better version of myself as a wife, mother, sister, cousin, niece, aunt, neighbor, daughter, and friend.”
Trista was the first Bachelorette to star on the ABC reality series in January 2003 and later married Ryan in December 2003.
The Bachelorette airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
