On the premiere of the final season of The Hills, while Kristin and Audrina headed to Miami to party for Super Bowl Weekend, Heidi headed to her family’s home in Crested Butte, Colo., to face her mother, Darlene Egelhoff, for the first time since getting 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day. “You act like I have a new face or something,” Heidi said when she sat down for a chat.
“Well, that’s pretty much what it is,” her mom said. “It takes a little getting used to. It’s very weird and very awkward. I’m sorry.”
Still recovering, Heidi spoke in low tones as she told Mom and her sister Holly all the work she had done. “It sounds to me like you want to look like Barbie,” her mother said.
“I do want to look like Barbie.”
“Why would you want to look like Barbie? To everybody else that saw you, you were Heidi. Nobody in the world could have looked like Heidi Montag,” her mom said. Then, the conversation took an even more dramatic turn.
“Are you telling me you don’t think I look good?” Heidi asked her mom.
“Maybe you should rephrase the question,” her mom said.
“No. Do I look good?”
“How do I go and say that of course I thought you were more beautiful before? I thought you were younger, I thought you were fresher-looking, I thought you were healthier,” her mom said finally. “What’s done is done, so that’s a terrible thing for me to say but, yes, that’s how I feel. I felt that you were much more beautiful before and I hope that some of this will fade away.”
Heidi’s response: “You don’t have to support it or think it looks good but you have to realize what I’ve been through. You have to realize that I’ve been through so much pain, and coming here and having you attack me is just really hard … Mom, this is what I chose and there’s nothing that I can take back.” MTV
