How do you say “awkward” in German?

On Monday’s episode of The Bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock heads to Germany and has her first two-on-one date.

She called it “the most awkward date of my life” in her latest blog post. “I’ve watched two-on-one dates on TV, but having to live one was painful,” she wrote.

Michael and troublemaker Ben are both invited but with one rose at stake, things get very uncomfortable. Watch a clip below.

Over dinner Michael asks Ben why he doesn’t get along with the other guys in the house. Ben says he’s not focused on making friends but rather wants to get to know Desiree, which she seems to appreciate.

Later, when Desiree asks the guys about family traditions, Ben says he wants to go to church every Sunday with his family. But Michael calls him out, saying he didn’t attend an Easter service in Germany when all the other men did go.

“Every other guy was there except for you,” an irritated Michael says. “I thought that was odd.”

That’s when Ben decides to excuse himself.

“I feel so uncomfortable being in the middle of Ben and Michael,” Desiree says. “I may want to let both of them go.”
